Tenants were part of the working group that agreed the contract specifications and have continued their involvement throughout the tendering and interviewing process.

Jenny Montgomery, one of the tenants involved in the process, was impressed by the thorough and fair process applied to the selection arrangements and felt confidet that her views as a tenant were respected.

She said: "What placed S & E Cleaning ahead of the other candidates we interviewed was their consideration of the residents and the importance of providing good customer care as well as a good cleaning service."

A Trent & Dove spokesman said: "We were extremely pleased with the positive response received from our tenants in helping to shape this new service that has previously been undertaken by our caretakers. A request to tenants for volunteers to act as monitors for the service and ensure that standards are maintained was also well received."

"These checks will be in addition to those internal checks that S & E Cleaning undertake to review customer satisfaction."
